Varmints

Summary

A varmint walks in a vast field, feeling happy in the beautiful and peaceful nature. But suddenly, gloomy varmints come with tall buildings, destroying nature. The protagonist then rescues a small piece of a tree. He takes it to the city and lives in a small room, nurturing it with care. Then, several seeds fly out from the branch, turning into large, white objects that look like giant jellyfish. The city's in ruins and the varmints are dying. The protagonist also becomes weak, and is taken by the jellyfish like the other varmints. When he wakes up inside the object, he finds himself surrounded by the abundant nature he loves.

My Opinion

The film's contrast between the bright and vivid opening and the gloomy world after nature has been destroyed conveys the preciousness of nature and the darkness of a world without it. It feels like it contains a warning about human development and the resulting environmental destruction that is occurring in the real world. In addition, I see the ending of this film as one of hope, and I think the giant jellyfish represents the hope that is born as the main character continues to work to protect and preserve the branch and return the world to the way it was. And watching the jellyfish save the Varmints from a miserable world made me feel the strength of believing and persevering.
