Irony
Despite the driver trying to capture the two octopus, he let go of both of them after finally grasping them because he was about to crash.
At first, the driver only had one octopus but after being distracted by the orange octopus, he decided to try and capture both, leading him without any after crashing. (He lost his money, he lost the octopus, and even lost his bike)
Theme
The strength of love between two individuals after separation
Another 一兎う追う者二兎う追えず themed story (like the dog)
